rumination /ˌruːmɪˈneɪʃn/
noun
plural noun: ruminations
1. A deep or considered thought about something.
2. The action of chewing the cud.
A year ago, I walked onto a diary farm in Bentley, looking for a job. The farm was basically submerged, in water and shit. I spent the next nine months living in a little caravan on site, milking cows.
Someone told me this region was once brimming with dairies, now there are only a few left.
What really affected me was realizing how little control one has over anything. Sometimes you just have to carry on, regardless of the conditions. Fortitude.
The sky seemed the clearest symbol of this. Storms rolling in out of nowhere, embers glowing over the hills, pink frosts in the mornings. Ephemeral moments that allow oneself to pause, and think.
